St Andrews (Castle Course)

History

The Castle Course is the newest addition to St Andrews Links. Opened in 2008, it became the seventh course at the “Home of Golf” – making it the largest public golfing complex in Europe. Set on a rugged cliff-top with spectacular views towards the St Andrews skyline, the Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience.

The Castle Course was designed by renowned Scottish golf course architect, David McKlay Kidd. Built on ancient Pictish hunting grounds, the 220-acres of undulating fairways and picture-postcard greens deliver an exhilarating challenge for any serious golfer looking to test their skill and guile against a stunning backdrop.

St Andrews (Castle Course)

Named after Kinkell Castle, which dominated this stretch of the North Sea coast in the Middle Ages, the Castle Course offers some unforgettable holes. Highlights include the pretty sixth hole, whose green offers an expansive view back to St Andrews harbour and the par-three 17th that plays across a treacherous ravine.

The Castle Course at St Andrews offers a true golfing test. It is the type of course that rewards careful strategy and course management. The award-winning clubhouse, with its warm-up range and 85-seat restaurant with panoramic views of the course and coast, is the perfect place to relax and recount all your best shots!
